5 important benefits of good sleep

Along with food, water and fresh air to breathe, sleep is important for human survival. Sleep is described as the naturally recurring state of mind and body, according to Wikipedia.

Humans approximately spend twenty-five years asleep which is a third of their lifetime.

It is very important since humans cannot go beyond eleven days without sleeping.

According to the National Sleep Foundation,

Teenagers between the age of 14 to 17 years need approximately 8 to 10 hours of sleep.
Young adults between the age of 18 to 25 years of need 7 to 9 hours of sleep
And adults between the age of 26 and 64 need 7-9 hours of sleep.

To begin with, sleep helps us in many ways. The human body is complex, its functions are very diverse which is regulated and improved through sleep. This allows your body to balance a human's bodily system overall. Good response to stimuli, effective thinking without being clouded and productive growth is all through sleep, good sleep.
Surprise, surprise! The lack of sleep is linked with high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels in a person's body. Good sleep means no health risks such as obesity, heart diseases and diabetes.

Sleep is very crucial for the human brain as well. The human is at its most intense state, the brain is cohesively restructuring. This is vital for your memory, your long term memory will drastically improve and strengthen if you have a good sleep, people that do not sleep well have a big problem consolidating information from the short-term memory to the long term memory. Which makes it harder to memorise and recall information.

Psychologically speaking, stress and anxiety is reduced drastically if sleep was good. When the human body is deprived of sleep they are at a higher alert and their blood pressure rises, this causes the person to be worrisome. This worrisome state due to sleep deprivation will further harness their ease of sleep.

Furthermore, to be in a good overall mood you will have to have a good sleeping schedule and proper hours of sleep. Enough sleep balances your emotions, keeping it regulated, because everyone has noticed whenever they feel tired they become cranky and moody. Sleep could solve that problem.

Weight-loss can happen if the person sleeps a good number of hours regularly. Why is that?

That is because lack of sleep causes an imbalance in the hormones which affects the appetite of a person. When you lack sleep, it will make you feel hungrier and you will not be full as easily if you slept properly.  You will crave oily salty food as well.
Not only that but lack of sleep obviously makes you very tired so you will be too lazy to perform physical activities.

Last but not least, humans are exposed to anxiety, harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun and other dangerous disclosures such as exposure to harmful gas coming out from cars or second-hand smoking.
During sleep, the body is at a very blissful and relaxing state that it begins to fix itself. Protein cells form at a rapid state during your sleep and this helps repair any damage in the human body. In addition to that, during your sleep your immune system becomes stronger and that could help you fight off diseases during the change of season we are witnessing right now.

In conclusion, sleep is that unbreakable chain that links health to our bodies and is one of the best methods of meditation. It is a haven of some sort, and sadly people diminish its importance. Sleep is powerful, it is the balance to your well-being.
A clear thought, a better mood and a healthy body is all achievable through good sleep.
